The AWKR now offering a custom made boom cover for the boat owner of the winning S80

For the second year the Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta AWKR is recognising and promoting S80’s as a great class of boat and ideal for the regatta. This year, as well as winning the Class Trophy, the winning S80 will also win a custom made boom cover for the boat, valued at approximately $700, generously been donated by Sue Bumstead of Custom Yacht Covers

In 2015, the S80 Class saw 8 boats compete, with Melinda Henshaw and her crew from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron taking out the S80 Trophy and the IRC division 2 honours on board ‘Recycled Reputation’, owned by Tim Campbell. The EHC division 2 winner was Mandy McEvoy on Stephen Barker’s S80 ‘Rock n Roll’.

The 2016 AWKR is fast approaching, 11th to 13th June (the Queen’s Birthday long weekend). As always, the success of the event relies on the support of boat owners to lend their boats to competitors from RMYS, local clubs, interstate and overseas.

If you are interested in competing in the regatta or lending your boat please see www.awkr.com.au for more information or get in touch with Liz Haines at awkr@rmys.com.au or 9534 0227 as soon as possible.
