S80 Victorian Championship

Hobsons Bay Yacht Club

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arriving at HBYC.

Your marina berth will be allocated by HBYC. Contact the club before arrival to discuss where to go. Most yachts will go on the northern side of the marina close to the slip.

There will be good availability if you wish to arrive before Friday.

You will need to provide your own mooring lines and fenders. There will be shore power and water available.

Support Boats.

If you plan to bring a support boat and sleep on board during the championship please advise HBYC of the vessel name, draft, length and date you plan to arrive, and please have a copy of your vessels insurance handy.

Marina and Club access.

Access in and out of the marina and Club requires a fob key at certain times. Contact the HBYC office if you require access outside of normal hours

Transport/Car parking.

All day free car parking is available to the north of the club on The Strand. The nearest train station is North Williamstown which is about a 15 minute walk down Ferguson St.

Lunches and drinks.

On Friday 13th the bar will be opened from 9.30am for any competitors wanting to purchase coffees, cold drinks, gourmet rolls and muffins.

During the evening the bar opens from 5pm and the club restaurant will be open in the evening.

On Saturday 14th, the kitchen and bar will be opened from 8am, the kitchen will provide all day catering, from breakfast, till late afternoon snacks. The bar will have plenty of takeaways, ice and a great selection of grab and go for competitors.

The club will also provide lunch order forms for those early birds wanting to pre order lunches the day before.

Sunday last day of racing will run the same as Saturday, with preordering of lunches, the kitchen and bar will be opened from 8am.

Presentations will be made after the racing on the deck at Royals with the kitchen staying opening and offering a variety of snacks and finger food if requested.

Saturday Night Dinner.

Tickets for the dinner are to be purchased by 5.00pm on Thursday 11th January for catering purposes. Numbers are limited and there is a cut off time, so don’t delay. Tickets at $30 per head can be purchased through your entry form or by email to David Judge, (not through RYCV). Contact David Judge 0417 526 438 if you have any enquires.

The function will commence at 6.30pm for 7pm and will be a spit roast format (casual attire). Should you or any of your party have any dietary requirements please advise by Thursday 11th January.

GPS Trackers

GPS trackers will be provided daily to each yacht. On the first day, these will be handed out at the briefing. Remember to bring them back to the club at the end of the racing so that the race replays can be created. Information about the trackers will be provided at the briefing.

The replays will be available on the S80 website plus links via the Facebook page.

Sail Repairs

For emergency sail repairs, Doug Tannerhill of Seaport Sails and Canvas is located near to HBYC. He can be contacted on 0419 893 691.

Support those that support us.

The regatta has been very generously supported again by Ronstan, North Sails, Club Marine and Wilderness Wear. The Victorian S80 Association is very grateful for their assistance.

Each entry will receive a pack at the briefing on Friday morning. S80 caps will be in the packs together with a copy of the Sailing Instructions.
